What causes blocked drains
Tree roots
The most common cause in older towns. Roots find hairline cracks and joints in clay pipes and grow into the line chasing water.
Grease and fat build-up
Kitchen waste solidifies inside the pipe and narrows it over time until it blocks completely.
Collapsed or cracked pipes
Old clay and earthenware lines shift and break down with age and ground movement. Jetting won't fix this — but CCTV will find it.
Wet wipes and foreign objects
Anything that isn't toilet paper. "Flushable" wipes are the single biggest offender we see.
Stormwater overload
Downpipes and stormwater lines choked with leaves and silt, which back up into the yard during heavy rain.
Sagging pipework
A section of pipe that has dropped over time and holds water, catching debris and blocking repeatedly.
